Red Recuperación

The situation

Venezuela’s crisis displaced millions of people across Latin America. Frontline workers knew what their communities needed. Nobody could see that picture at regional scale, so resources went where assumptions pointed rather than where the need was.

What ran

Red Recuperación aggregated needs from frontline workers and matched them against offers from local businesses and the Venezuelan diaspora, on the platform’s real-time matching layer.

It was designed with the implementing partners rather than for them: Scalabrini International Migration Network, CORE Group, Diálogo Diverso, COOPI and Presente.

What it shows

Diaspora capital is one of the largest and least coordinated flows in humanitarian response. Given a routable surface, it reaches communities directly instead of passing through several layers of intermediary.
